Nashwa Ahlam has been studying
and performing Middle Eastern dance in the San Francisco Bay Area since
1997. She has been fortunate to study with many of the best teachers in the bay area
including Izora,
Yolanda, and
Amina.
Always excited to learn something new, Nashwa has
attended workshops with visiting stars including Shareen El Safy,
Princess
Farhana, and
Jillina. Nashwa recently returned from the
Ahalan Wa Sahlan
festival in Cairo where she attended workshops and danced with some of the best rakassahs (dancers) in the world
including Mona El Said, Dandash, Kareya Mazen, Freiz, and Farida Fahmy.

Nashwa is an active member the SF
Bay Area Chapter of MECDA (Middle Eastern Culture and Dance
Association). She has served on the board of officers including
being elected Vice-President. She volunteers her
time to support the local Middle Eastern Dance community and put on fun MECDA events around the San Francisco Bay Area
that benefit our local chapter and "Next Door: Community Solutions for Domestic Violence", a
non-profit organization in Santa Clara County.
